Haloxyfop-R-methyl (clethodim-methyl) is a highly effective and selective foliar herbicide from the aryloxyphenoxypropionate class. It inhibits acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) activity in weeds, blocking fatty acid synthesis and thereby inhibiting cell growth, causing weed growth to cease and eventually die.
Haloxyfop-R-methyl is primarily used to control annual and some perennial grass weeds in fields of broadleaf crops such as soybeans, rapeseed, cotton, and peanuts. It is highly crop-safe and provides thorough weed control, making it a highly selective herbicide commonly used in modern agriculture.

CAS Number: 72619-32-0

Molecular Weight: 342.27
Chemical Class: Aryloxyphenoxypropionate Herbicide
Mechanism of Action: Acetyl-CoA carboxylase inhibitor, HRAC Mechanism of Action Group A
| Crop | Target Weeds | Formulation | Recommended Dosage | Application Stage |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Soybean, Rapeseed | Annual gramineous weeds | 10% EC | 30–60 mL per mu (≈450–900 mL/ha) | Foliar spray at 2–4 leaf stage of weeds |
| Cotton | Crabgrass, Foxtail | 12.5% EC | 40–70 mL per mu (≈600–1050 mL/ha) | Foliar spray at early growth stage of weeds |
| Peanut | Goosegrass, Barnyardgrass | 15% EC | 50–80 mL per mu (≈750–1200 mL/ha) | Post-emergence foliar spray, apply evenly |
High selectivity and excellent safety;
Maintains good activity against resistant grass weeds;
Fast absorption, strong delivery, and long-lasting efficacy;
Can be used in combination with most broad-spectrum herbicides (such as oxadiazon and trifluralin).
Highly selective: Effective against grass weeds, safe for broadleaf crops
Rapid absorption: Absorbed by weeds and transported to roots within hours of application
Strong systemic transmission: Blocks fatty acid synthesis, halts weed growth, and kills weeds within 7–14 days
Environmentally safe: Low toxicity, low toxicity to non-target organisms, and readily degrades in soil
