Mode of Action

Mesotrione is an HPPD inhibitor that blocks the activity of 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase, a key enzyme in plant metabolism.By disrupting the synthesis of plastoquinone and tocopherols (vitamin E), it interferes with photosynthesis.Sensitive weeds gradually lose chlorophyll, turn white, and eventually die.Corn has a strong tolerance to Mesotrione because it can rapidly metabolize the compound, making this herbicide highly selective for corn crops.

Application Field: Corn fields:

Control Spectrum: Broadleaf and some grassy weeds

Broadleaf Weeds Controlled:

Cocklebur (Xanthium spp.), Velvetleaf (Abutilon theophrasti), Pigweed (Amaranthus spp.), Smartweed (Polygonum spp.), Black nightshade (Solanum nigrum), and others.
